The Seventh Annual Boatbuilders' Show on Cape Cod, "the best little boat show in the Northeast," returns February 8-10, 2013 to the Resort and Conference Center at Hyannis. Over the past six years, almost 18,000 people have visited the show for the opportunity to see a large selection of unique, custom and limited-production boats in both wood and fiberglass. At this year's show, boaters looking for something other than off-the-rack, production boats will discover more than 50 exhibitors and a large variety of custom-built sail and powerboats on display under one roof.
You will not find boats like this at the major metropolitan boat shows. "Smaller builders of custom and limited production boats are often lost in the maze of mainstream boat shows," says Scott Dayton, a key organizer of the Boatbuilders' Show. "Buyers looking for the kind of craftsmanship and unique design usually found only on limited-production boats have few opportunities to go on board and compare workmanship and features. Very much like the Maine Boatbuilders' Show when it started years ago, this is an opportunity for smaller builders to show off their craft in a larger venue, some for the first time outside of their own shops."
The Boatbuilders' Show affords prospective buyers the chance to discuss all details of a boat order directly with the person who builds the boat. Dayton continues, "Anyone interested in purchasing a boat from any one of these builders will discover a buying experience far different from that of a production show or a conventional boat dealer. Buyer and builder can share their visions of form and function and the buyer can have a great deal of input relating to the final outcome of the boat. People who are attracted to these boats enjoy the beauty of the designs. They are often surprised to discover that they can buy exactly the boat they want, built just for them, at a price similar to that of an off-the-rack, production boat."
Whether you are shopping, just looking, or just looking for a taste of summer, The Boatbuilders' Show on Cape Cod promises a unique boating experience with accessories on display and beautifully crafted pleasure boats to whet your appetite for the summer ahead.
