This is an original, well maintained, older restoration boat. It's been completely refastened, engine rebuilt, new upholstery and chrome. It is not a trailer queen show boat, but a beautiful dependable, useable boat. I've owned this boat for 30 years but have a 37' sailboat that gets most of my attention these days, it's time to pass Flashback on.
Photos taken this spring. Boat is completely assembled, tuned up, and being launched 8 June. Trailer has fenders installed as well.

One way to describe this fine yacht is "Time Warp". This yacht has been meticulously restored to its original style and beauty right down to the period fans. Yet with the addition of a few modern features to add to her comfort and convenience without taking away from her 1926 charm. This yacht has been a show winner (most recent at the 2012 St. Michaels Wooden Boat Show) however, she was rebuilt to be a users boat and not just a yacht to admire.
Red Bank Yacht Works factory was located in Red Bank, New Jersey until the 1950's when it was distroyed by a fire and the company shut down production.
She will turn heads in every harbor and commands the attention everywhere you go.
If you are in the market for a true classic motor yacht this is a must see. |

The Andrew J
1948 26’ Deluxe Sedan Cruiser
Original Engine and Hardware
Restored to pristine condition by Award Winning Restorer Dan Nelson of Nelson Boatworks.
2012 ACBS International Show Winner - Best Preserved Cruiser. “The Andrew J”
You are viewing the only Higgins 1948 26’ Deluxe Sedan Cruiser known to exist. The number produced of this year and model is obscure because a hurricane wiped out most those records back in the late 1940’s and Katrina stuck the final blow. The Andrew J. was found in a barn in Oklahoma back in 2005. Contact was made with Dan to appraise this fine craft and the determination was made to begin restoration in 2006.
Higgins Inc. was founded in New Orleans by Andrew Jackson Higgins. The company flourished in the 1940’s and 1950’s building painted plywood pleasure and work boats enhanced with mahogany transoms and mahogany accented interiors. Higgins Industries is especially famous for their WWII efforts in producing military craft for the Marines, Coast Guard and the Navy. Their most notable wartime craft are the famous PT Boats and the LCVP Landing Craft as exhibited in the movie “Saving Private Ryan”, while they landed on the beaches of Normandy.
The Andrew J’s name was sanctioned by Dawn Higgins Murphy, Andrew Jackson Higgins’ daughter who still lives down by New Orleans to this day with her husband Bob. There are only about 200 Higgins pleasure boats remaining and a small handful of military crafts. Please enjoy with us our history and our love for these rare and unique classic wood boats.
Jeff Oppenheimer – owner and VP - Higgins Classic Boats Association
The book ANDREW JACKSON HIGGINS AND THE BOATS THAT WON WWII is a GREAT resource to lscam more about Andrew Jackson Higgins and Higgins Industries. Jerry Strahan has done a wonderful job detailing the inside story of this great man and the people behind the scenes. A must read….also visit our website www.higginsclassicboats.org for more pictures of her.
Currently, The Andrew J is tucked away in storage with her new cover. Thank you for your interest. Please contact me at 712-229-0285 for serious inquires.
