SNEC is excited to present Vintage Treasures at the Connecticut River Museum July 7-9, 2017.
Please join us for a great weekend of Vintage Treasures – both people and boats! This event is sponsored by the Southern New England Chapter of ACBS at the Connecticut River Museum.
The Southern New England Chapter hosts a silent as well as a raffle auction in conjunction with our boat show every year – and it grows every year! This is open to the general public and we usually get between 40-50 donations of goods, and services from chapter members, local merchants, and large corporations.
We have been fortunate to get donations from local artists and other ACBS chapters. Carole and JC Parker from the Adirondack chapter donate one of their giclee boating pictures to us and the New England Chapter has donated the posters done by artist Peter Ferber. Our chapter poster this year is being done by California artist Paul Bailey; he donated a large giclee last year of 2 GarWoods racing! We have also been extremely fortunate to have artist Darrell Bush donate one of his large signed “Legends” series posters as well – in fact, we have one person who has bid (and won) them for the past 2 years.

Join us for the Antique & Classic Boat Rendezvous, a dazzling display of high-quality antique and classic vessels including cruisers, sailboats and runabouts. An award competition recognizes excellence in restoration, authenticity and workmanship. Approximate 35 classic vessels create a colorful gathering along the Museum’s waterfront all day Saturday and Sunday morning.
Sunday at 12:30p.m., the classic vessels depart Mystic Seaport to take part in a jubilant, three-mile parade down the historic Mystic River. Each boat will be announced on the shore at Mystic River Park as it passes through the iconic bascule bridge. The boats and their costumed crews will make their way down river to Fishers Island Sound in what has become a highlight of the Mystic summer season.
This year, in honor of the 85th anniversary of the Museum’s own schooner BRILLIANT, we will feature Sparkman & Stephens vessels. Design #12, BRILLIANT was one of Olin Stephens’ earliest designs. She was launched in 1932 in City Island, N.Y. As one of the longest running sail training programs in the country, she has carried more than 10,000 students aboard. We look forward to having Sparkman & Stephens here to help us honor the featured class.
