Return to ACBS Rudder, Spring 2004 Index

The Chesapeake Bay Chapter of ACBS has presented the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum with a check for $1,000 to help recover from Hurricane Isabel. Greg Howell, chapter president presented the check, to John Ford, vice president of museum operations, at the Society’s annual dinner on Nov. 22.
For 16 years, the Museum has served as the setting for the annual Antique and Classic Boat Festival. Thousands of visitors come to St. Michaels every spring to admire restored Chris-Crafts, Gar Woods and other wood pleasure boats. Next year’s festival is set for June 18-20.

“Because each organization benefits the other, the partnership between ACBS and CBMM has grown into a unique friendship,” said Howell. “Therefore, it is not unusual that the ACBS has stepped up to the needs of the Museum in the aftermath of Isabel.”

“I liken the Museum’s response to Isabel to that of a strong family,” said Ford. “It brought us together and it’s nice to know that the relationship with the ACBS Chesapeake Bay Chapter is more than just a partnership in the annual show. We’re proud to include them in our extended family.”
