Hickman Sea Sled Raffle!

Schedule of Boat Shows featuring the "Raffle" boat

For the ACBS Endowment Scholarship Fund

ACBS members will recall that at the ACBS annual meeting in Mackinac Island, Past President Tom Flood introduced a resolution establishing an Endowed Scholarship Fund.
The purpose of the Scholarship was to recognize that these treasures we call antique and classic boats are in the temporary custody of those who own them and that many of these present owners are part of the “greying” population. Thus raising the question: “Who will care for these treasures?” Secondly, to provide for these treasures, ACBS members must take a leadership role by providing scholarship funds for persons who wish to be trained in restoring these wonderful boats. If ACBS members don’t do it, who will?

At the annual meeting in Chattanooga, ACBS member Lindsey Hopkins III of Atlanta, offered to donate a 1929 Hickman Sea Sled with a 1929 26.5 hp Johnson outboard mounted on the transom, including a custom-made trailer for transport. Those attending the annual meeting accepted Lindsey’s kind offer with the gratitude of the entire ACBS membership.

It was then decided that a raffle would take place. The tickets are $5.00 each. At the 2002 annual meeting in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, the winning ticket will be drawn.

You need not be present to win.  If your local chapter isn’t offering these, send your $5.00 to Kathy Snyder at ACBS Headquarters, 422 James Street, Clayton, NY 13624.
